Stop unwanted behavior by spraying in the dog’s direction, approximately 12-18 inches away, in a short burst. The can must be held in an upright position. Do not spray directly in dog’s face.

Q: Are there any warnings for this product?

A: This product is nontoxic, and we would recommend normal good hygiene habits. Please note, this can is an aerosol can. As such:

  • Do not puncture or incinerate container
  • Do not set on stove or radiator
  • Do not expose to heat or store at temperatures above 120 degrees F (49 degrees C)
  • KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN

Q: Are these the same pheromones as those in the calming collars, ointment, diffusers and sprays?

A: No. These products contain different pheromones than those in the calming collar, calming ointment, calming diffusers and calming sprays. 

Q: Can I spray this product directly on my pet?

A: No. This product is meant to be sprayed in the direction of your pet approximately 12-18 inches away in a short burst. It is not meant to be sprayed directly on your pet. 

Q: Can I use multiple pheromone products together (collar, ointment, diffuser, spray, etc.)?

A: Yes, you can use the other SENTRY pheromone products (calming collars, ointment, diffusers, and spray) with the behavior correction spray.  Regarding other brands of pheromone products, we would recommend contacting the company that manufactures them. 

Q: Can I use these behavior correction sprays on both dogs & cats?

A: Yes, this product can be used on both dogs and cats.. 

Q: I purchased SENTRY StopThat! Spray for dogs when I meant to purchase the one for cats.  Can I use it on my cat?

A: Yes, you can. This product is made to be used on either cats or dogs. 

Q: Why are the SENTRY products labeled separately for dogs/cats when it can be used for either pet?

A: Many specialty retailers have separate dog and cat product sections, so there is a product made for each section. 

Q: Can I use this product around my pregnant dog/cat?

A: Yes, this product can be used around a pregnant animal. 

Q: Do you need to shake the can before use?

A: No, it is not necessary. 

Q: How long or how many sprays will I get out of this can?

A: The amount of sprays and time that the product will last will be determined by how often the product is used as well as how long the consumer holds down the spray nozzle. It will vary from consumer to consumer. 

Q: How often should I use the behavior correction spray?

A: Each pet is different and will respond differently to the spray. You may have to experiment to find how your pet will respond to the spray the best. The perception of the pheromones by the cat/dog is immediate. However, visible improvement in specific behaviors may require some time, depending on factors such as:       

  • Individual differences in pets
  • The nature, duration and severity of the behavioral problem
  • The types of behavior modifications that the pet owner is using or has used 

Q: How old does my pet have to be to use this product?

A: This product can be used on pets of all ages. 

Q: What behaviors can this product be used for?

A:  There are many different behaviors that the StopThat! spray can be used for:

  • Jumping up
  • Excessive barking/excessive meowing
  • Leash pulling
  • Chewing on inappropriate items 

Q: I have been using the behavior correction spray for a while and I’m not seeing any improvement, should I stop using it?

A: Some dogs/cats may take up to a month to show visible improvement. Depending on your pet’s stubbornness and trainability, you might need to continue the spray for several week/months. Your pet should understand that the behavior he/she is showing is not what is desired and stop eventually. However, if your pet is hard of hearing or deaf, this product may not be the right training device. 

Q: Will this product have any effect on me or my family?

A: No, this product does not have any effects on humans. Just be aware that this product does contain lavender and chamomile fragrances, so if you are sensitive to fragrances you might want to have someone else use the spray, and wait until it dries so the fragrance doesn’t bother you. 

Q: I’m pregnant. Can I use this product in my home?

A: This product can be used in your home if you are pregnant and has no effects on humans. If you or any family member is sensitive to fragrances, it is recommended to avoid the area until the product is dry.

Q: What are the ingredients in this product?

A: We are unable to release the ingredients in this product, as it is a trade secret. 

Q: What is the percentage of pheromones in this product?

A: We are unable to give out that information, as it is a trade secret. 

Q: What are the pheromones in this product?

A: The pheromones in this product are a submissive type of pheromone used to deter bad behaviors. 

Q: Are the pheromones synthetic?

A: Yes, the pheromones are synthetic. 

Q: What is the shelf life of this product?

A: 3 years from the date of manufacture. 

Q: Where is this product made?

A: The StopThat! spray is made in the USA, however the spray nozzle is made in Italy. (Therefore, we are unable to put “Made in the USA”, but “Packaged in the USA”.) 

Q: Will the behavior correction spray affect other pets in the home?

A: The StopThat! will affect other dogs/cats that are in the vicinity of the area that the product has been sprayed. If you spray the product around other pets you might see the same reaction from them as well. The high-pressure hissing noise is a deterrent for most pets, and they will want to leave the area. 

Q: I left this product in my car when it was very hot/cold.  Is it still okay to use?

A: Yes. Allow the product to come to room temperature before using it on your dog. 

Q: What is a Pheromone?

A: A pheromone is a (chemical) substance released by an animal, which affects the behavior or physiology of others of its species. 

Q: I’m allergic to Lavender.  Can I still use this product?

A: No. This product contains lavender fragrance.
